How to Use the Jesmonite Mix Calculator

This calculator helps you find the correct amounts of powder and liquid based on Jesmonite’s mixing ratio.

You can use it in two ways:

Example: For a 100g mix, you’ll need:

• Powder: 77g
• Liquid: 23g

Option 2: Enter Water Weight (Mold Volume Method)

If you’re unsure how much material your mold requires:

1. Place your empty mold on a scale and zero it out (tare).
2. Fill the mold with water to the top and note the weight.
3. Enter that water weight into the calculator.
4. The calculator will show you how much powder and liquid you need

Example:

If your mold holds 100g of water, that equals 168g of Jesmonite mix, broken down as:

• Powder: 129.36g
• Liquid: 38.64g

NB: It’s important to know that this formula works best with flat, simple molds. If you have more complex shapes, like pots or vases, it won’t be as accurate because the amount of water doesn’t match the amount of powder and liquid. So, for these shapes, it’s more of a trial-and-error process to figure out how much mixture you need.
