Once fully refined, paraffin is non-toxic and safe. It holds the fragrance and color well. It's used in combination with stearic acid which is a hardening agent that helps the candle hold its shape and burn more evenly. A typical blend is: 60% Paraffin 30% Stearic 10% Beeswax
